Transportation
The transportation to the Monterey Peninsula is very accessible and convenient.
The Monterey Peninsula can be located and toured by freeway, airline, ground transportation,
bus and rail services.
Freeway Access
From the North:
Take Highway 101 South to Highway 156 West. Highway 156 West will merge into Highway 1. This
beautiful route will take you along the coast, right into the Monterey Peninsula.
From the South:
Take Highway 101 North to Highway 68 West. Highway 68 West will take you directly into
the heart of Monterey.
For a more scenic drive, Highway 1 is your best choice. Highway 1 will take you into the Monterey
Peninsula from both Northern California and Southern California regions.
For your convenience we have compiled a list of local transportation resources to aid you

services.
The Monterey Peninsula Airport (MRY) offers 80 flights a day to and from major destinations such as: San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Phoenix. The three direct airlines that service the Monterey Peninsula are United Express, American Airlines/Eagle, and America West.
In addition to those services listed here, other major airlines that serve as connector flights are: Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, British Airways, Canadian Airways, Hawaiian Airlines, Lufthansa, Mexicana, Northwest Airlines, US Airways Express.

A free “Wave” trolley, operated seasonally by Monterey-Salinas Transit, takes passengers from Downtown to Cannery Row at no cost.
